Oregon Basketball: Jackson Shelstad leads in win over Maryland Terrapins
Shelstad finished with 22 points and was a perfect 5 for 5 from distance.
Oregon met another challenge on Sunday hosting a solid Maryland team that was among the teams pacing the Big Ten in scoring. To open the game, the Terrapins hit back-to-back threes down the court.
The Ducks countered and were able to keep pace until Maryland took a double digit lead midway through the first half with just over 11 minutes left. Oregon’s shots seemed to be forced at times, with three-pointers missing and Maryland scooping up the rebound.
Maryland went on an 8-0 run and had +2 in the rebounding category.

Oregon would get out of a tough spot with a 13-2 run sparked by a Nate Bittle three-pointer. The Ducks shot 17 three-pointers in the first half and landed just 6 of them. The Terrapins took a 3 point lead into the break, 45-42.

The Ducks opened the second half on a 14-0 run taking a 56-47 lead with 16 minutes left.
Maryland went on a 13-2 run of their own to retake the lead 69-67 with just under 8 minuts left in the game. Derik Queen made a pair of free throws to extend the Terrapins lead to 4 before the Ducks hit a three-pointer to pull back within one.
Kwame Evans Jr. tied the game at 74 with just under four minutes left. Keshawn Berthelemy hit a three-pointer a minute later and Nate Bittle hit two free throws giving the Ducks an 81-76 lead with 1:24 remaining.
Maryland called timeout, but they did not have any forcing a technical foul and two free throws. Jackson Shelstad hit both giving the Ducks a 6-point lead. Oregon won 83-79.
Jackson Shelstad led all scorers for the Ducks with 24 points, shooting 5 for 5 from three-point range and 8 for 10 from the floor. Nate Bittle had 16 points and 6 rebounds for the Ducks. The team had 15 assists vs Maryland.
The Ducks hit the road next to take on Ohio State and Penn State.
